On 5th January 2026, and Extraordinary Meeting of the Parish Council was held to consider the Governments consultation on Local Government Reorganisation. There were 4 proposals for consideration, full details of which can be found at Proposals | Essex Local Government Reorganisation Hub.
After full and frank discussion, the Council believed that a 3 tier option was the most financially sound option, however felt that the proposed make up of this 3 tier system (which included Maldon) did not make sense. As such, the Parish Council responded to the Government explaining that whilst it supported a 3 tier system, an alternative options should be considered, one which omitted Maldon from the tier and instead included Uttlesford.
