Community garden volunteers start second year with 'Pull A Weed' slogan

Volunteers who work on the community garden in front of the parade of shops in North Weald High Road have seen the project enter its second year by launching the slogan 'If you feel the need - pull a weed'.

North Weald Bassett Parish Council vice-chairman Alan Buckley said: "Over the last 12 months the floral displays have matured and turned the area into a very attractive centrepiece for the village.

"A lot of hard work has gone into the maintenance of the garden during the year with weeding and seasonal planting and again I would like to thank our volunteers - George Mulliner, Margaret Mulliner and Daphe Buckley - for all their help during the year.

The garden is being sponsored by Stuart Poulton - The Family Funeral Directors; GreenAcres Woodland Burials, Davis Homes estate agents, Cinnamon Indian Restaurant and North Weald Bassett Rural Preservation Society.

Mr Buckley added: "Many residents have commented on the garden and we are very happy for any offers of assistance.

"Keeping the area tidy is an ongoing task so may I invite any passers-by to participate in our garden slogan - 'If you feel the need - pull a weed'."
